Screenshot Comparison
Compare a step's run screenshot against its stored baseline
When a test step captures a screenshot, SmoothDeploy stores it alongside a baseline image. The comparison view lets you inspect both and promote the run image to become the new baseline.
Opening the Comparison View
From the per-test run detail page, click the screenshot thumbnail on any step that has a screenshot.
What You See
The comparison view shows:
- The step number and title in the header.
- Baseline — the currently stored reference image for this step.
- Run Result — the image captured during this run.
Click either image to open it full-size.
Use Previous and Next to navigate between steps that have screenshots without leaving the view.
Promoting a Screenshot to Baseline
If the run screenshot is the correct expected state — for example, after a deliberate UI change — click Promote (check icon). The run image replaces the stored baseline immediately.
When no baseline has been set yet, the baseline panel shows a Use as baseline button (upload icon) instead. It promotes the run image in the same way.
All roles can promote screenshots. After promotion, the baseline panel updates to show the newly promoted image; the next comparison for this step uses it as the reference.
