Branches
Isolate tests for different versions or workflows with project branches
Branches let you maintain separate sets of tests within a project. Tests are branch-scoped; secrets, tags, config presets, and schedules are shared across the whole organization or project.
Permissions
All roles can view, create, and rename branches. Admins and owners can also delete branches. See Roles and permissions.
Branch List
- Go to Operations → Branches in the sidebar.
The list shows every branch for the active project with its name, creation date, and a Default badge for the default branch. Use the search box to filter by name.
Create a Branch
- Click New Branch.
- Enter a Name (letters, numbers, hyphens, underscores; max 64 characters).
- Optionally, select a Source Branch (Optional). All tests from that branch are copied into the new branch. Leave it blank to start with an empty branch.
- Optionally, tick Set as default branch to promote the new branch immediately.
- Click Create.
Rename or Set as Default
Click the pencil icon on any row to rename the branch or change its default status.
Duplicate a Branch
Click the copy icon on any row. You choose the new branch name in the dialog. All tests from the source branch are copied.
Switch Your Active Branch
The branch shown in the top navigation bar is your active branch. It determines which tests appear on the Tests page and which branch is used when you run tests from the console.
To switch:
- Click Set as Active on any row in the Branches table, or
- Use the branch dropdown in the top navigation bar and click a name. A Manage Branches link at the bottom of the dropdown opens this page.
Your active branch is stored per user. Switching it does not affect other team members.
Default Branch
One branch per project is marked as the default. API calls and schedules that do not specify a branch use the default. When you create a project its first branch becomes the default. Change the default by editing any branch and ticking Set as default branch.
Delete a Branch
Click the trash icon on any row and confirm. The default branch cannot be deleted; its trash icon is disabled.
Deleting a branch is permanent
Any schedules that targeted the deleted branch will show "Deleted Branch" for the branch field.
